MIHI’s Academic Visit: Collaborating with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Master of International Relations (MIHI), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta held an academic visit to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) on Monday, April 22nd, 2019. The academic visit was intended to introduce MIHI to UKM and to establish further collaboration with Fakulti Sains Sosial dan Kemanusiaan, UKM. UKM is known as one of the prominent universities in the Asia Pacific.
The first session was the introduction. Both faculties introduced their majors of the department, and focuses. Fakulti Sain Sosial dan Kemanusiaan UKM offers six major programs on social and political science; Regionalism & ASEAN Strategy & Security, Democracy, Basic Studies, Global History, and National Integration.
Both universities have agreed to establish further collaboration in student mobility, journal and publications, collaborative research, and international conference. MIHI and Fakulti Sain Sosial Kemanusiaan have discussed the possibility to hold collaborative research and international forum discussing the non-traditional security issues; such as human security, bioterrorism and wildlife life, democracy, transnational organized crimes; such as human trafficking and drugs smuggling, and disaster diplomacy.
The Fakulti Sain Sosial dan Kemanusiaan also introduced Lithograph, Caricature, and Manuscript Gallery of UKM. The gallery tells the history of Malaysia, and how old literature; manuscripts, caricatures, and paintings have influenced society.
